I can now see why many criticize NLP for trying besides hard to sound scientific i.e. it uses a lot of big words for a simple idea for which we already accept words. For example, NLP uses "modalities", which are but your senses! The "sub-modalities" are simply the details of the stimuli received from your senses. For example, the colour of an object is a sub-modality of the vision modality. Oh brother.
A useful book nonetheless. It is better than other NLP books I've read. Feel gratuitous to check my bookshelf called NLP.

I'm disappointed because this sounded interesting, but it belongs on the Dr. Phil shelf.

An OK introduction to the topic. More therapeutic and personal evolution or communication oriented.

My first 'for dummies' read. I'd been very unsure almost getting into NLP merely as a motorcoach it presented as another tool in the kit so I decided to give information technology a go. There are some great tips for presenting and building rapport, but in that location were also parts that were too much of a stretch for me such as modalities. Subsequently the first one-half it became a bit of a slog. At that place are some nice anecdotes and illustrations merely a lot also seemed similar common sense to anyone with vague coaching training.
Overall not a bad read, merely I would that there were something shorter!

As the title says, this is an introduction to NLP or Neuro Linguistic Programming. I didn't know anything about NLP before I read the book, and so I can't say whether or not this is truly introduces the topic properly.

And I guess that'south exactly what the goal of this book is.

This book is a good introduction to the concept and do of neuro-linguistic programming. It is a version that is made for "dummies" like me. Romila Ready started by defining what NLP is, and how it helps a person in daily life. I like concepts like 'clean language' that she introduced in the 2nd one-half of the book.
The overall 'Dummies' structure of conspicuously highlighting anecdotes, giving jargon alerts, highlighting warnings etc., is practiced.

There are some expert concepts and textile in the book, but there is also a lot of circumlocution. At the end, I was just glad that the book was coming to an end!

This volume was my introduction to NLP. Definitely one of those subjects that y'all could either dismiss or look into and run across what comes out of it. I plant some of the exercises to be somewhat helpful in getting me to think about things differently.
I found this informative on the subject of how the brain deals with sensory information, how it filters this data and how the encephalon can get stuck on ideas and emotions. While I have no tried any of the therapies I can meet how they might piece of work.
Airport purchase I plant in the back of a shelf... The volume actually is non so bad at giving an overview of this strange field. One 24-hour interval I hope to find a NLP volume that refers to the actual enquiry underlying some of its ideas - it really seems like a mishmash of fact/fiction...
- Due to different background of growing up, people hear the same thing but interpret them differently- Establishing rapport - through not verbal ways - is vital for advice (calm, confidence, matching & mirroring etc)
Nothing surprising in regards to NLP at the basic level. Good volume to start with.
Very interesting, many tips to understand others, communicate better and appreciate life !
Piece of cake to read. Many excercises and techniques. Many examples of using NLP in daily life.
NLP is interesting, but taken to an farthermost it becomes nonsense, religion.
While there were some good concepts in here, I found the book very lite, and some of the anecdotes didn't convince me that NLP could have solved the issue.
Let's just say I was glad to be finished with this one. It seemed like a skilful introduction to me, but I guess I already had been exposed to a lot of NLP in other places, considering an atrocious lot of this was stuff with which I was quite familiar, and I constitute a lot of the examples deadening, because they didn't relate to my situation very well. I wasn't expecting to find NLP particularly interesting. In fact, I thought information technology would exist rather creepy (how to dispense others to do what you desire sleazy salesman stuff), and although it is clear that some people could apply information technology in that manner, it is just a pocket-size part of NLP. Portuguese translation is awful, looks like it used Google Translator. Content is ok, information technology makes some skillful points, but I would take liked a little less dummy. In my opinion this a subject where applied training is needed, then reading a volume will only give y'all the gist.
A well written volume for introduction to NLP. I enjoyed the read. The last few sections of the book i skipped equally they were like superlative ten lists and uses for NLP. Overall, the info is basic, merely it gives you a smashing starting point into NLP.

I read this as a prerequisite to a course I was taking & found it very insightful. I learned a set of country-of-the-art skills to use in all areas of communication - both personally and professionally.
This book helps yous understand the premise for NLP, without presenting whatsoever evidence (if whatever substantial body of evidence exists) for any of it.Interesting still, how much of the concepts described has permeated public speaking, podcasting and other self help information.
Kind of bought into NLP hype when this book came out. It wasn't even interesting. Nowadays information technology'south considered bogus science.
